The Erfocentrum
The Erfocentrum is the Dutch national genetic resource and information centre. It provides information on genetics, pregnancy and perinatal care, medical biotechnology and relevant professionals through various websites, brochures and events. People are also able to contact the Erfocentrum directly for personal queries via e-mail and telephone, through the Erfolijn helpdesk.

Mission
Through providing objective, reliable information the Erfocentrum supports people in making informed choices regarding their own health and the health of their children. The Erfocentrum also supports people in forming their own personal opinions about social and ethical aspects of genetics and biomedical issues.

Information leaflets
Information leaflets on genetics and genetic testing have been developed by the EuroGentest Project. The aim of this project is to provide up-to-date general information about genetic testing and harmonising standards for genetic testing across the EU. The Erfocentrum and Dutch Genetic Alliance VSOP participate in the EuroGentest Project.

Below you will find these leaflets with information about Inheritance Patterns, Chromosome Problems, Genetic Testing and Information About Your Genetic Appointment. There is also a Frequently Asked Questions leaflet which will be useful if you are going to be speaking to a specialist about genetic testing, and a detailed Genetic Glossary. This information is designed to be used alongside the discussions you will have with a genetic specialist. It has been produced with the help of patients, families and support organisations from across Europe who have first hand experience of genetic disease and genetic testing. We hope therefore to have covered all the issues that are important to you and your family.
